About Katie, organizer of Swing Out! Social
In the beginning...
​Katie is from Sacramento, California and started dancing at age 3. It began with ballet, then a little tap and jazz. Toward the end of high school, she hung up her pointe shoes. By then she was dabbling in East Coast swing with Midtown Stomp’s Friday night dances.
Lindy Love
A few years after she moved to the San Diego area in 2013, she found her way into the swing scene here. She was immediately captivated by the swivels and styling of Lindy Hop (the first she’d seen of it!), and was inspired to take lessons. In the past 3 years of classes and social dances, Lindy Hop has become an important and vital part of her life, bringing her new friends, exciting challenges and absolute joy. She was even awarded 2nd place in First Saturday Swing’s Novice Lindy Hop Jack and Jill in 2017.
Other things
When she’s not dancing, Katie loves to bake, sew, read, and travel the world. She also plays alto saxophone with the Palomar College Concert Band.
